Edge of Mind

Candid conversations with leading edge thinkers in the fields of science, philosophy, spirituality, psychology, health care, integral studies, and the arts to explore ancient teachings and modern topics about the nature of mind and reality.

[Edge -upper hand, advantage, superiority. Edge – brink, verge, threshold. Edge – sharpness, boundary, limit, border, edging. Edge – frame, fringe. Edge as verb – approach]

A Note from Andrew:

In my silly busy life, I wanted to say a few words about why I take the time to host these podcasts. For selfish reasons, I have the precious opportunity to talk to some of the most interesting people on the planet. But the deepest reason, one that might actually be selfless, is that these conversations keep me humble and open. It’s so easy to fall into the trap that one’s own path, or way of looking at reality, is the best or only way. That you somehow know it all. Blind spots are a serious snare. Talking to others, being corrected by others, seeing the world through the eyes of others, is the best way I know to stay honest and open. I want people to show me what I’m not seeing. And a contest of ideas is a good thing, as long as no one intends to win this contest. If I surround myself with “yes” people, syrupy sycophants, that’s the end of my learning. If I maintain a “beginner’s mind,” and have people challenge my views, my education never stops. My guests on Edge of Mind take me to my edge — and often tip me over it. I can think of no greater gift. One that I hereby share with you.

Hosted by Andrew Holecek

Andrew Holecek is an author and lecturer who presents talks, online courses, and workshops. He is the founder of Night Club, an international community offering interactive teachings on meditation, lucid dreaming, nonduality, and preparation for death from a Buddhist perspective. Edge of Mind is a podcast that started within Night Club, but evolved into this expanded new platform when so many notable guests brought up topics beyond the scope of Night Club. So welcome to the Edge of Mind!

“There is a distinctive feeling that accompanies this kind of radical learning. It is a flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants, hair-on-fire spectacle of wonder. It is the wonder of coming to the brink of the known world and risking everything by plunging over the edge. To learn at this level is to fold back the covers of the universe…If you teach to have a genuine impact, you have to be willing to push some edges.” –  author Christopher M. Bache, Ph.D.
